Arena Ghost

The swing took one frame. The lesson took three seconds.

Pei Zhao was the best young assassin in the Corridor Pro League's youth system until the night the anti-cheat system looked at his impossible reflexes and saw an aimbot. The league banned his account. His org staged a cheat on his machine to make the story stick. His teammate took his spotlight, his desk, and his future, and the record shows Pei Zhao as the cheater who got what he deserved.

Fourteen months later, a no-name account called Ghost starts climbing the ranked ladder of The Corridor, and the ladder does not know what to make of him. When Ghost dies, three seconds of consciousness rewind, replaying his killer's every input, habit, and mistake in frame-perfect detail. Die once, learn once. Five rewinds a day, priced like coins. Spend them right and death becomes tuition.

The system reads his rising win rate the only way it knows how: cheat. Yellow flag. Orange flag. Case GHOST-114. The community brands him, lobbies dodge him, a hearing looms, and every frame that proves his genius reads, to the machine, as proof of his guilt.

Then a shelved league analyst named Zhiqiu Ye sends him one message about an impossible input curve, and shows him a sealed file the league wants forgotten. The cheat planted on his machine carried a machine-made fingerprint, and so does the input log of the org's brightest star. The star's name is Qi Ting. He plays for Titanridge now. He is the league's face, its champion, and the man who was standing in the training room at 03:12 the night everything was taken.

To prove his innocence, Pei Zhao has to climb from the bottom of a rigged bracket with a team nobody wants: a loud tank with a brawler's heart, a trapper who archives careers, a support who wants an apology Pei Zhao will never give. Together they become Ghostline, the netbar team that beats cheaters by starving them, and a tournament season becomes a war on evidence. Qualifier brackets edited by the man who framed him. A mirror-match rival who studied his VODs for a year. A gifted keyboard with a second life inside it. A second-generation cheat that reads an opponent's client memory in real time and drinks every death he dies.

The final is scheduled against Titanridge. The hearing is scheduled for the same weekend. The reader in the enemy booth updates its model of him with every kill, so Pei Zhao budgets the last day of the season the only way left: five coins, five lies, each death teaching the machine a falsehood, and a sixth death staged so perfectly that every screen in the arena logs the kill.

On the eighty-eighth frame, the true combo comes out of the echo.

Arena Ghost is a complete esports novel about the price of proof: frame data as fingerprints, revenge as a bracket, and a man who learns by dying learning, at last, to live inside a team. For everyone who has ever been misjudged by a machine and asked to prove a negative to a crowd that already voted.

Come watch the ghost climb.
