My Mate is a Female Alpha
by PageCrave Editorial
Mars Rivers has spent his whole life learning to look calm. Heir to the Red Stone pack and only son of a hard, exact father, he is sure of exactly one thing: he is not ready. He is afraid of council tables and border patrols, afraid that one day someone under his protection will die and it will be his fault, and most of all afraid of Alpha Camp, the proving ground where every pack sends its heir to be measured. Hidden even from himself is one more fear: that he will meet his mate and discover, in the same instant, that he is not the man she needs.
Then the loudspeakers at the gate call a name no one there has ever heard: Melanie Black, Dark Stone Pack. A female Alpha. Not a daughter waiting to marry into a title, but an heir in her own right, raised to rule, trained like a soldier, and spoken of as the most dangerous thing her ruthless father's territory has produced in a generation.
Mars expects to be afraid of her. Instead he takes the bunk opposite hers.
Melanie has no use for softness. Her father taught her that every kind word has a hook in it, that power is the only language that never lies, and that a leader who lets anyone close has already lost. She carries the scars that prove the lesson went deep. What she has no answer for is a boy who leaves the door across the hall ajar, who defends her in front of his own family, who sees the map of what was done to her and asks for nothing in return.
At camp the heirs are sorted into teams and taught to hunt, to starve, to hold a line in the dark. Mars learns to fight beside a woman who outranks him and never once makes him feel small. Melanie learns the stranger lesson: that being gentle with someone is not the same as being weak. Around them the politics tighten. Her father wants a war and the obedience of every pack in the north, and he has decided that his daughter's strength belongs to him. When the fight is finally brought to their doorstep, Mars must decide what he is willing to become to stand beside an Alpha who has never been allowed to lean on anyone, and Melanie must decide whether the mate she never asked for is a leash, or the first thing in her life that was ever freely given.
Expect crowded dinner tables, survival exercises in the snow, a rescue that begins with a single screamed word, and an ending that keeps every promise the story makes. Told from both sides of the bond, this is a slow-burn werewolf romance about fear, power, and the distance between what an heir is born to be and what she chooses to become. All main characters are adults; every intimate moment closes the door and leaves the longing on the other side of it.
